Bought this for a Bernina 930 Electronic with a two wire foot pedal. The original pedal had suffered through age and had got very brittle (the pivots had broken). The new pedal is not quite as 'progressive' as the original but for the price is excellent value & quality!

An excellent £15. well spent when my local dealer quoted about £150. to replace my Bernina foot control which no longer worked. Only gripe - NO INSTRUCTIONS for connection.
Comments from other purchasers were reassuring and, luckily, I have an electrician for a son-in-law who managed the job for me. His only comment being that the little metal grips, used for fitting to the end of the two individual wires, for then fitting to the new foot control terminals were really A SIZE TOO SMALL.

I'm really pleased with this new foot. My old bernina foot had decided to operate at warp speed only! This new foot is better than the original ever was...more sensitive and therefore easier to use. Many thanks it's definitely a bargain.

The quality , price and delivery speed of this product were all excellent. Like other reviewers discovered instructions could have helped enormously but another reviewer saved the day.

Having read other purchaser's guides to this product on the Bernina shop site, I decided to try the control. It seems well made and appears simple to reconnect as a replacement. My machine is an old model Bernina 801. Comments offered by users have been a great help since as previously no connection instructions were enclosed when my foot control was delivered. Suggestion. "Surely Bernina could arrange supply of connection instructions with an order." ???!!!!! Thank you to Bernina / Purchasers. Definitely a bargain. !!

I found this universal foot pedal very good. I have had my Bernina for 40 years. I bought this machine when I lived in Zambia in the 1960.s and made all clothes on it. My husband found it easy to fit.

Having read the reviews from K.H. West Sussex and Mick A. below,(many thanks to you both for the essential information) I decided to give the Universal Foot control a go for use on my 30+ year old Bernina 830. My machine has 3 wires to go into the foot control so after a lot of fiddling about (who designs these connections? They're so fiddly) I finally got it to work using the black and brown wires from the sewing machine cable and leaving the third (blue) wire carefully insulated and tucked out of the way of the others. Each wire needs pushing into one of the tiny clips supplied (they came as one clip and you have to snap them apart to make two), then tighten the clips by squeezing them closed and then slide each onto the protruding metal bits that are one each side of the green square thingy inside the pedal. (You will deduce I have no technical expertise.) The foot pedal now works perfectly and saved me £130. Brilliant!

A well made replacement pedal. The build quality is good and works as good as if not better. If you are competent with electrics it can be easily adapted to suit the 3 wire pedal as Mick A suggests by using the black wire as a common.

I got this control to replace one on an Elena sewing machine, for a fiend. Two sewing machine shops had previously been paid £30 each to look at the existing (old) one and both failed to effect a repair or suggest a replacement.
For less than £20 this foot contol could have been fitted. It was an easy job. Remove 3 screws from it's underside. Take the two wire lead off the old control. Fit the two small metal, push-on clips, supplied, to those wires securely, so the lead can be connected to the two tags in this new one. Slide the heat resistant sleeving over the wires before connecting. Fit the wire clamp bits supplied to secure the twin cable to this new control. Make sure the wires are out of the way of things. Put the base back on. Job done. Anyone used to doing this sort of work can do it easily in 15 minutes.
For the technical: The control provides a variable resistance in the lead supplying the machine motor. It uses two 'side by side' carbon piles. The two wires go one each to the side by side ends at one end. Pressure is exerted on the two other ends of the piles by a metal plate that bridges across them to also act as an off/on switch when the control is pressed. Measurements showed the resistance change operated smoothly and was a much better control, in this respect, than the old one.
I can't talk about life as the job has only just been done, but the electrical working looks well engineered. The foot pad swivels on round plastic pegs/rods and it remains to be seen what their life will be.
